Enzymedica Gluten Ease contains a unique combination of enzymes which provide support for gluten and casein breakdown. Some individuals may experience difficulty digesting foods containing these molecules. The enzyme DPP-IV is well known for its ability to break down gluten and gliadin proteins which may reduce the digestive upsets associated with gluten intolerance. Amylase and Glucoamylase enzymes assist in the digestion of the carbohydrate portion of grains (such as wheat) which often contain gluten. This product is ideal if an individual is eating out and they are unsure if the food they are eating is completely gluten or casein free.
Gluten is a protein found in grains, notably wheat, rye and barley. Gluten intolerance occurs when there is a difficulty in breaking down specific amino acid links (called peptides) in the gluten molecules. This can lead to many digestive complaints. Gluten exhibits a unique amino acid sequence which creates gut irritation and a flattening of the villi of the intestinal tract. The villi provide the intestine with the ability to absorb nutrients from the foods we eat, thus damaged villi can lead to issues such as malabsorption, nutrient deficiencies or other digestive disorders.
